Timber Treatment & Coatings

Working with our timber protection partner Arxada, we offer the very latest treatments to protect your timbers against wood decay and insect attack.

Our choice of preservative treatments protect timbers against all forms of wood decay and insect attack, wherever it is to be used. This will give you complete peace of mind that your timbers will have a long and low maintenance service life.

High Pressure Treatment

High pressure treated timbers have been impregnated with TANALITH wood preservative under rigidly controlled conditions in our own on-site vacuum pressure timber impregnation plant at Felling. The resulting TANALISED pressure treated timber has a natural pale green colouration.

Latest generation TANALITH wood preservative now incorporates patented BARamine technology. This provides an even more robust protection allowing greater penetration of the wood preservative into the timber as well as protecting against certain copper tolerant brown rot organisms.

Fencing and landscaping timbers can also be treated with a built-in brown colouration, TANATONE, if required.

Instructions for the Safe Use of Treated Timbers

  1. Wear gloves when handling timber
  2. Avoid inhalation of sawdust
  3. Do not use in contact with drinking water or for direct food contact
  4. Do not use for animal bedding, in fish ponds or for sheet piling (canal banks)
  5. Dispose of treated wood responsibly
  6. Industrial waste should be disposed of through an authorised waste contractor

Low Pressure Treatment

Low pressure treatment facilities on-site at Felling utilise VACSOL wood preservative. This latest generation, waterbased wood preservative provides proven protection against decay and insect attack for general construction and joinery timbers with desired service life of 30 – 60 years.

Other Treatments & Finishes

Charred & Cindered is a traditional Japanese wood-burning technique which involves charring the wood’s surface, cooling it with water, then sealing it. The technique is designed to make the wood fire-resistant with the added bonus of a beautiful, textured charcoal finish. A low-maintenance finish designed to last a lifetime.
Sentrin FRX Fire Retardant treated timber has been pressure impregnated with Exterior Fire-X, a leach resistant (Type LR) formulation. It significantly reduces the spread of fire, heat and smoke generation without compromising critical engineering properties. ISO9001 controlled factory conditions ensure lasting protection without further maintenance.

HR Prof spray-applied Fire Retardant treatment is internationally approved. Once absorbed into the surface of the wood, it combines chemically within the cell structure and allows the wood to breathe naturally. In the event of fire, the spread of flame is curbed by restricting carbon char to the immediate area.

Priming with a white acrylic, water-based primer achieves excellent opacity results on all types of hardwood, softwood and MDF. This modified co-polymer undercoat can be overcoated on site with either water-based or solvent-based paints.

Clear Lacquering offers excellent clarity, build and resistance. Available in a range of high performance options from 5% matt up to 90% gloss, it enhances the natural grain and offers added strength and protection.

Teknos Woodex Oil is a translucent or opaque finish available in a wide range of colours. It is a low film build, matt, water-based finish suitable for use in heavy duty areas like decking, cladding and garden furniture.
